They had decided to take an hour break while the dragonâs got a brief respite from their flight east. The rest of the team took advantage of the time on the ground and decided to make dinner in an attempt to lift their spirits now that they were out of enemy territory. They had succeeded after all.
She stood apart from the others, still bothered by the fairyâs words and the lost souls that had fallen on her watch. Her eyes were on Sherwood Forest, but her mind was deep within the Deadlands, her heart searching for the spark of light that had once been her husband. She did not believe for a second that he had betrayed her, that he had gone over to the darker side. It had to be bad intel, or there was something else at work that was making him do it. He would never abandon Adeline, or their marriage for that matter. They were having a rough patch, sure, but that didnât change how deeply they felt for one another.
